In 2002, I took the coursework to become a real estate agent. I couldn’t believe how ignorant I was. I combined my background in business with my new appreciation of real estate and saw the real power of real estate investing.
We bought our first in 1994 and sold it in 2005. It had doubled in value after doing some of the things I talk about in this book. I wrote From Paint Rags to Riches – Becoming a Real Estate Millionaire in 2004. This book is a re-write of that book.
One person objected to the title and thought I might be promising that people could become millionaires. Although no education should make that promise, I changed the title to A Doctor’s Guide to Real Estate Investing. It is intended to have a double meaning. I am a Doctor of Chiropractic and I am hoping to guide other doctors to make money in real estate.
My second oldest son, Ben became a general contractor in 2006. He also has a real estate license. You will see some references to him and deals we have put together. Sam is my oldest son. I also mention some investments he has made.
